He didn't know why everyone was complaining, this whole 'becoming your costume' thing was fantastic! If the academy didn't work out, a ghost hunter was what he was planning on being.

And here he was, with a ghost catcher... hunting ghosts in an official jumpsuit!

This was a dream come true!

Of course, the drawback was, there was only one ghost around. So it didn't really interfere with his shinobi work... unless she was around then he had the urge to pursue her. He looked out at the dark forest and saw the white figure. He really had to resist the temptation to capture her again, poor girl was only in that costume because he suggested it. And boy was she upset over the whole thing.

Momo the Miserable Ghost

Hey, she sounded like a child's show character. Kou chuckled to himself and sneaked out to the clearing where the white figure stood. She had the hood of her cloak up, but really there was only one White Lady around here. Did she think she could hide from him when she was so... white and semitransparent?

In reality it wasn't mostly her fault for being so upset, the White Lady was typically associated with bad stuff, being betrayed and the like, so even if she was okay with being a ghost, the costume would probably have made her miserable anyways. Kou greeted her with a grin when she finally turned around.

"Heya Momo!"

"Did you come to capture me again?" came her sad tone.

Kou blinked seeing he had the suction part of the machine pointed at her. Damn these temptations, he was supposed to be cheering her up, not humiliating her. He took a breath and took off the backpack. "Not gonna ta capture ya again Momo, I'm sorry."

"I don't really care... it's not like I can do anything else..." She floated to look away from him, "So if it makes you happy..."

"Hey whoa whoa wait Momo, ghosts can do lots of stuff!" he waved his hands to get her attention.

She turned back to him, her eyes narrowed slightly. "I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can barely pick anything up. Masaru and Eita are scared of me. I couldn't get Narashi out of his lamp and I could barely get him to someone that could release him would all the focus I could muster, but sure I can do 'alot of stuff'. I'm useless Kou, I have to focus just to been seen," she almost sneered at him.

Kou just looked at her feeling the wind pick up from Moriko's agitation. Man ghosts are really prone to emotions aren't they? "H-Hey you're going about this all the wrong way Momo. You're a spirit ya affect your environment, ya can't physically do anything."

"That is the point Kou, I can't do anything," Moriko sighed.

Kou scratched his head, he had to fix this somehow. Of course it was possible nothing could cheer the kunoichi up, but... well he could just leave her to linger like this.

“You’re a spirit Momo, ya gotta not think like a human. You have powers!”

“Like what?” Moriko was just too tired from this whole month to even mind his grammar. Usually at this point she’d correct him or be in physical pain, but she just gazed at him. The Hayashi didn’t take well to being useless.

"Moving stuff," Kou grinned.

She sighed, "How?"

"Your big pretty brain of course~" Kou grinned, "Ghost move stuff without touchin them! Ya don't need to pick anything up."

Still not reaction, nothing from his grammar, nothing from complaints. Kou pouted a bit and crossed his arms, Momo sure was upset wasn't she? "Here look at the rock there," he pointed at a rock in front of them. Moriko only gazed at him to amuse him, but Kou was going to show her she wasn't useless. "Move it, just think about moving it."

Moriko just glanced at him, but looked back at the rock. She started at it for a bit, but it didn't even wiggle.

"Come'on Momo, harder! Like you just wanna chuck it in someone's fa-ACK!" came Kou's cry of surprise and pain when the little rock went flying into his forehead. The force of the rock had knocked him on his ass.

Her hands cupped over her mouth in surprise, "I-I'm sorry...!"

But Kou just laughed, "Well okay I wasn't bein literal, but it works!" he pumped his fist, "I told ya you could do it Momo!"

"I-I... did it... didn't I?" Moriko finally muttered looking at the mark on Kou's forehead apologetically.

"Yeah ya did!"

"I-I'm sorry..."

"Neh, don't be," He grinned rubbing his forehead, "I'm the one that got cha to dress up in that outfit."

"You didn't know I'd turn into one Kou," Moriko sighed.

Kou continued the night, keeping Moriko company and trying to cheer the girl up. Encouraging her to move things and basically trying to show her other ways to get things done. He really did feel bad for making her a ghost, and he just wanted to see her smile. But the man's energy could only keep him up so long. Moriko was getting a handle on moving stones [and not whacking him in the face again] and she didn't need to sleep. He unfortunately did.

"You can go home Kou," Moriko told him, flipping a smooth stone back and forth on the ground.

"Neh I'm fine," the Byakko yawned.

The girl looked at him and shook her head, "You need to sleep, go home."

"Ya sure Momo?" he rubbed his eyes.

Moriko only nodded, "I can go home, and I can practice moving things." She thought for a moment before giving a soft smile, "Thank you."

As Kou was about to reply, the girl disappeared. He blinked, so she did have to focus to be seen then. He smiled to himself, at least she seemed to be coping better now. He yawned again and got up. Well… maybe he was better as a ghost tamer… ghost friend? He thought about it as he walked back to his apartment, picking up his backpack. Oh well… In his mind, it was still a mission accomplished.

So this branches off the pair mission I'm working on for this arch.

OCTOBER : Draw or write about your character trying to continue their shinobi work while dealing with the issues presented by their costumes

Really... being a ghost hunter doesn't distract him from his duties at all, unless theres a ghost nearby, then he drops everything to go get them :iconpapplz: but I think he'd do that even if he wasn't a ghost hunter. So I decided to let him talk with a ghost... which happened to be Moriko's costume xD
