It was a fine sunny day as Moriko worked away in the kitchen looking at the time as she put a pan in the oven. She took a deep breath and looked back to the cookbook to see what preparation needed to be done while the cake was baking. If she timed this right she'd be done and ready by the time her roommate came back. The instructions said all she'd have to do is let the cake cool and transfer it to a plate once it was completely cooked, simple enough, now she can get some cleaning done.

There was a reason Moriko liked having the house to herself when she was cleaning as she changed into an old baggy hand-me-down shirt. She threw her long hair back into a bun and tied a handkerchief around her head to keep her bangs back. She tied up the shirt's hem into a knot so it stayed against her body then went to get her cleaning supplies, she had two hours at most, she could at least make the kitchen spotless, maybe even get the living room in too.

That reason that she preferred solitude was Moriko tended to forgo pants when cleaning, and she'd be mortified if someone walked in on her when she was in nothing but a shirt and panties. Moriko's reasoning for not wanting pants? She found they got in the way, and she didn't see the reason to buy pants that she's just going to ruin with bleach.

Her roommate Wakana knew that Moriko preferred having the house to herself when she was cleaning, though Moriko's excuse was she just didn't want anyone in the way. So Moriko decided to take advantage of that fact when she asked Wakana to do some errands for her Wakana assumed that was what Moriko was up to, she had no idea that Moriko was really trying to surprise the new Chunin with one of her favorite treats.

"Wakana, I'm a bit busy with cleaning, would you mind going to do some errands for me?" Moriko had asked the girl an hour earlier.

She recognized the scrunch of the nose when Wakana didn't want to do something. The green haired girl managed to have a 'complaining face' "Eeehhh, I have to go noooow?" she whined as she laid back on the couch watching television.

"Please, only a few things" Moriko said placing her hands together in front of her like begging her roommate, "Oh, and if you could take Akihiro with you..." she mentioned, since Akihiro liked to be underfoot whenever the girl was trying to get housework done. Its not like she didn't want Akihiro around but she could get everything done so much quicker if the dog was out of the house too.

Wakana's face showed more laziness as she pouted like a little kid, "Whaaaaaat? Why-?" then Wakana stopped, remembering the dog was happy to help his owner by carrying her bags, which means... she could get the dog to do it for her too. The green haired girl's lips curve up in a smirk making her eyes shine with a bit of evil determination, "Nevermind, I'll do it..."

Moriko smiled gently at Wakana, "Thank you so much." Inside Moriko was giddy knowing she'd be able to pull off her plan. She gave Wakana a list and snuggled her two year old Great Dane reminding him to be a good and helpful boy. The two left and Moriko rolled up her sleeves to start baking.

The kunoichi never realized how truly difficult it could be to hide pineapples from Wakana in order to make her cake. She couldn't exactly communicate to Wakana to not touch the fruit, the other girl would be suspicious as to why. First it was simple, hide it in the back of the fridge. An hour later she saw Wakana had torn into the can, happily enjoying the pineapple rings as she watched tv. The green haired girl grinned at Moriko and waved thanking her for picking up the fruit. Moriko just stared and gave a half hearted wave back. Well, looks like she needed to get pineapple again.

Three more times Moriko tried keeping the pineapple hidden in the kitchen, disguising it even, trying to camouflage it by putting a different label on the can, but every time Wakana found the fruit with little effort, not seeming to catch on she wasn't suppose to be finding it. It's like she could sense the pineapple. It was like a weird game of hide and seek and Moriko kept losing. Moriko wasn't exactly the best at sneaking around but thinking of how much Wakana would love the surprise Moriko gave it her best effort.

Finally after sneaking out in the middle of the night to get the fruit, you'd be surprised to know how late some shops are open, Moriko just hid the pineapple in her room. She hoped the location was beyond her roommate's pineapple senses.

Moriko could admit she was a bit nervous about the cake. This was the first time she attempted an upside-down pineapple cake, but she figured Wakana would adore the sweet juicy confection with pineapple rings on the outside, Moriko even chopped up some into the cake for more pineapply goodness. She took at deep breath and told herself to relax, she hadn't made anything bad since she was a child, Wakana would love the dessert.

As soon she has cooked, cooled and released the cake from its pan Moriko covered it up and went to start scrubbing the counters, cabinets and floor of the kitchen. As soon at the kitchen was spotless Moriko had proceeded to the living room. She had the carpet vacuumed and the furniture dusted by the time she heard the distant barking of her dog. Seeing her time was up Moriko smiled softly and quickly went to her room to change.

She was dressed by the time Wakana came in, she smiled and greeted the other female, taking the bags from her friend. "You can sit down, I've got this. Thank you so much for going out for me."

Wakana let out a dramatic groan and flopped on the couch once Moriko relieved her of the bags. "Yeah Yeah..." the green haired girl pouted, "I better be the best roommate ever."

"Of course. Was Akihiro helpful?" Moriko asked as she saw the dog was loaded with bags as well.

"Course. He was my big helper," Wakana cooed at the dog who barked and wagged his tail proudly.

Moriko only smiled taking the bags to the kitchen. Setting them down she then grabbed the cake, uncovering it and grabbing a plate, knife and fork before going back out to the living room.

Wakana was gazing at the television, but blinked upon the smell of the cake in her roommate's hands. She sat up looking a bit confused at Moriko seeing the cake. "Whats that for?"

The Hayashi only smiled softly, "It's a congratulations... and... a thank you," she said blushing a bit, "I... never would have passed the Jounin Exams without you Wakana... and well you worked hard to become Chunin... I figured the least you deserved was a nice treat."

Wakana's eyes started to shine like a child on christmas morning gazing over their presents as she eyed up the cake. She suddenly had the strength to get up from the couch and come over to the cake muttering, "I want to hug it but I can't..." Wakana looked at her, the happiness the green haired girl felt was radiating off her, "Is this all for me?"

Before Moriko could answer Wakana's arms were around her, being careful not to knock the cake out of her hands. Then the green haired girl stepped back and cleared her throat, "Well, of course it's for me, I did a great job; but even if it wasn't for me I would just eat it anyway," she winked playfully.

Moriko only found herself laughing, she loved how lively and unpredictable Wakana could be, "well good thing it's all for you then..."

The Hayashi was given a grin in return and then after a 'thank you' with another hug Wakana snatched the cake and fork that Moriko had, leaving the plate and knife. Moriko blinked seeing Wakana eat the cake right off the serving platter. She really shouldn't be surprised, after all Wakana did love her pineapple. Though seeing Wakana had no intention of slowing down on her eating Moriko grew concerned. "Wakana you don't have to eat it all, you will have stomach ache. Leave something for tomorrow," she said simply. She didn't want her hard work to end up paining her friend.

Wakana looked at her with her mouth full of cake, Moriko recognized that scrunch of her roommate's nose as Wakana frowned slightly, "What? Do you think I can't eat it all? Watch me," as she started shoveling more cake into her mouth.

Moriko paled a bit shaking her head, "N-No Wakana you'll upset your stomach!" she protested, but of course Wakana heard a challenge.

"Shut up"

The Hayashi would have said something to her roommate but once Wakana was like this, it was impossible to sway her otherwise, "fine I'm just stating I warned you..." she said shaking her head. With that Moriko left Wakana to her own devices.

But as predicted Moriko can back to an empty cake platter and a roommate curled up in the sofa trying to hide the pained look on her face. Moriko just sighed coming over and patted Wakana's head gently, "I think we need to have a discussion about moderation Wakana."

"I don't want to listen! I'm fine!"

"Then why are you curled up on the couch?"

"Because that's how I like to sit."

"You look like you're in pain...."

"I'm not, this is my 'I'm perfect' face," Wakana tried to grin at her roommate but only succeeded in showing Moriko she was having stomach issues from trying to digest all the junk food.

Moriko just looked at Wakana, not buying that Wakana was okay, "was the cake at least good?"

Wkana only tried to slip on a grin and gave her friend a thumbs up, "Is there more...?"

"I'm going to take that as a yes," Moriko smiled softly getting up. She may not be able to deter Wakana's behavior but she knew how to handle it at least. "But no I only made the one cake Wakana..."

"You should make more then... I can handle all the cake you can make..."

"Not today, I'm out of ingredients and I need to finish cleaning," Moriko said seeing Wakana wasn't up to protesting. She took pity on her friend though, flipping the channel to something Wakana would enjoy then bringing out something healthy for Wakana to eat along with some water to combat the cake in the other girl's stomach.

After cleaning the bathrooms Moriko came back out to Wakana out cold on the couch. The offerings of food and water gone, and soft snoring coming from the green haired girl. Moriko only smiled softly, making Wakana more comfortable with a blanket and pillow before going to get some food herself. Stubborn as her roommate was, Moriko would never wish for a different person to live with. Though she would make a note to make Wakana single serving goodies from now on.
Moriko bein a good roomie to her female bestie Wakana :la:

I've been adding odd quirks to Moriko's personality... this lastest quirk with her cleaning pantless comes from yours truly :iconbiggrinplz: I don't like wearing pants at home in general though :iconmingplz: Moriko is more decent then I.

Prompts:

Intelligence: Communicate // Sneaking around // Plan // smarty // resources
Speed: transport // blend in //  Camouflage //  sense //  extraordinary
Stamina:  Release // hidden // love // first // Relax

and with that Moriko's intelligance and speed is maxed out! :dummy:

Though if she's so smart now... why didn't she know that Wakana had pineapple senses? :iconfryplz:
